V4 Flooring

An industrial site within the green belt provides the setting for this signature showroom for a family run wood flooring business. Built onto the end of the existing warehouse the brief was to create a building that would epitomise the brand and enable the business to grow in its existing location.

A double height glass fronted space forms the centre piece of the development and creates an exciting welcome to the showroom. The use of landscaping softens the entrance to the site and forges strong connections to the surroundings.

As well as the versatile showroom space which enables a large offering of flooring products to be displayed and illustrated flexibly the accommodation also provides office and meeting spaces, rest areas and a gym.

Ham Drive School

This new build two form entry primary school was located on an area of open green space. In response to this site the design concept was for a series of pavilions in a park. This resulted in four classroom blocks linked by covered walkways to a main activity centre building which houses the school’s hall, dining room, kitchen and administration spaces. The main entrance to the school is a welcoming double height space which also serves as the library.

External space was key with two grass pitches to Sport England standards and a multi-use games area being provided. The central area has been landscaped to create planting and nature areas which serve as learning aids. Each classroom has its own external teaching area. The project achieved a Breeam score of very good.

Sythwood

A development of 15 social housing flats across two blocks on a corner site sandwiched between an existing residential area and an industrial estate. An acoustic bund along one side of the site has had to be reduced in length and mitigation measures incorporated into the new buildings. The form of both blocks has been fragmented by pulling them apart and creating communal circulation areas that read as external space.

The flats themselves are laid out around an open plan kitchen family space with all accommodation satisfying the criteria of the Nationally Described Space Standards.
